Well our adventure begins!!!! We were delayed in Dallas for 2 hours due to the storms on Monday night and so when we arrived in London we missed our connecting flight. When we landed we had about 45 minutes to connect but we were on the back of the plane so it took awhile to get off. There was an attendant that met us and escorted us through to the next gate but security did not cooperate. They detained Harrison for finding traces of explosives on his bag!!!!!????? Come to find out his brother had made some bleach water bombs and had in the bag. The bleach is a big TSA no-no...who knew? So when we managed to get through security the plane did not wait on 4 of us!!!!! To make it worse we stood in line to rebook our flight forever and then had to go through security AGAIN and this time Harrison got right through and Candee and I were detained and had everything searched. It was wild!!!
With now having an 8 hour wait for the next flight to Nairobi we went to the Admiral's Club and found the "Quiet Area" and all 3 took a long nap in very comfortable reclining chairs. I even managed to get a shower. It was heavenly!!!!
So we are off on our 2nd leg of the trip which will be 9 hours to Nairobi and then straight to a full day at the Virginia Home. I am so excited to get there and meet all the kids:)
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!!!!
I am days away from taking my first trip to Kenya. I am using this blog so my family and friends will be able to experience the things that I get to experience. I know that upon returning home I will forget so many important details of the trip and hope that through this blog, I will be able to express them.

Trip to Kenya
I am headed to Kenya on Monday, March 19, 2012. This is my first trip to Africa and I am very excited but nervous at the same time. I have the opportunity to travel with a friend of mine, Candee and her son Harrison. We will be flying into Nairobi and then staying in Nakuru. During our stay we will be working with an orphanage called the Virginia Home. My prayer at this time is that we have safe travels, stay healthy and that my family at home, Jim and Niki, also stay well and safe while I am gone. Tyler is back in Nashville at college and probably won't even know that I am gone, except if he needs money:)
